Bio.
Dr Awf Abdulrahman Shaban combines evidence-based medicine with a patient-centred approach, emphasising thorough diagnostics and tailored treatments, particularly in complex nephrology cases. Patient story is the most important part of his management plan. Awf’s procedural expertise reflects a hands-on commitment to improving patient outcomes.
Awf’s career spans over 20 years across multiple continents and specialties. After graduating from Iraq, Awf had cardiology training in Malaysia, before transitioning to Australia in 2013. His nephrology training included interventional nephrology, GlomCon Glomerular diseases and haematology fellowships. Awf has been a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Nephrology since 2024. In 2025, he has worked as a Consultant Physician at Joondalup Health Campus and Bunbury Hospital. Alongside clinical work, he leads research on monoclonal gammopathies of renal significance, with publications in Nephrology Journal and presentations at ANZSN/IKMG conferences. He is also involved in medical education, procedural training, and multidisciplinary collaborations, reflecting a blend of clinical excellence, research, and teaching.
