FibroScan (Liver Elastography)

The gold standard non-invasive solution for comprehensive management of liver health.

What is a FibroScan?

FibroScan is a special ultrasound test that checks the health of your liver. It’s fast, safe, and doesn’t involve needles or surgery.

FibroScan measures two key things:
1. Liver Stiffness (Fibrosis)
- Measures how stiff your liver is.
- Stiffness can be caused by scarring from liver disease.
- The test sends a gentle vibration into your liver and checks how fast it travels.
     - Soft liver = healthy
     - Stiff liver = possible damage or cirrhosis
2. Fat in the Liver (Steatosis)
- Measures how much fat is stored in your liver.
- Uses sound waves to see how much they fade as they pass through.
    - More fading = more fat

Why is FibroScan done?

Your doctor may recommend a FibroScan if you have:
- Indeterminate FIB-4 blood test
-
Fatty liver disease (MASLD or MASH)
-
Hepatitis B or C
-
Alcohol-related liver disease
-
High cholesterol or diabetes
-
Obesity or metabolic syndrome
It helps:
- Make clearer if there is a liver problem when FIB-4 blood test is in the middle range
- Detect liver damage early
- Avoid unnecessary liver biopsies
- Monitor your liver over time
